I am trying to wean my little girl but am so so confused about what to do.

She used to sleep until 7am and now wakes at 6am, so i give her 7oz milk and she then goes back to sleep at 7.45am. She then wakes at 8am and plays until about 10am when she is then hungry. Now that I am weaning her I have tried to feed her 1-2 teaspoons of baby rice and then give her her milk at 10.30am. She never finishes her baby rice completely and usually gets whingy so I give her her milk which she finishes.

She used to sleep 12-2pm but now wakes about 1.30pm so i give her 6oz of milk at 1.45pm.

By 5 pm she is showing signs of hunger again and I try her on some baby rice but again she only takes a few spoons and then gets frustrated wanting her milk. She sleeps at 7pm and at 10pm she takes a full 6oz.

What I can't seem to get right is her wanting more of the rice and less of the milk. I know she is hungry in between milk feeds but I just can't get her to take her food.

Help please....any advice is much appreciated. I am worried as I need to get her weaned and onto solids by 7 months. I am scared that if I don't she will refuse solids completely

A Firstly, do not worry about the urgency to get your daughter onto solids by 7 months, she will progress at her own pace.

You could try to move onto pureed vegetables once or twice a day for a week then increase the amount and offer vegetables and fruit at lunchtime. Once the solids are more established, your daughter will take less milk but this can take up to 4 weeks before they are happy with the new routine.
