I am breastfeeding and want to wean my baby onto cow’s milk because it is more natural than formula milk. Can I do this without harming my baby?

A Cow’s milk is not recommended until after the first birthday.
It is recommended that breastfeeding be continued for a year but if this
is not possible infant formula milk should be used instead. The reason for this is that all the nutritional elements needed by a growing baby are not contained in pure cow’s milk. It is also not as easily digested or absorbed
as breast or formula milk.
Infant formula is modified cow’s milk and this process makes it closer
to the composition of breast milk. The proteins are made more digestible; more lactose is added; butterfat is replaced with vegetable fat: minerals
are added which are essential for the growth and development of teeth, strong bones and for the formation of red blood cells. LPC's are added
which are fatty acids for brain & eye development and nucleotides and prebiotics to help develop the immune system and prevent infections.
Your Health Visitor would be happy to discuss this with you and help you make the right choice for your baby.
