My baby is nine months and no sign of teeth. Is this normal?

A Yes this is normal. The average age for a first tooth is between six and nine months. All babies are different and because of this some babies can be born with a tooth and in others a tooth can appear between three and four months. It is also normal for babies to have their first tooth at twelve months. If your baby was premature the first tooth can appear slightly later than this. Try to find out from other members of your family when they had their first tooth because tooth development is hereditary. If you or your partner had teeth later, then your baby may well do the same. Speak to your Doctor or Dentist if you see no signs of teeth by one year. A good resource for information about teeth is www.simplyteeth.com
