We are going to Mauritius on holiday tomorrow. We have no idea
whether it is normal for milk to be pasteurized or not. Do you know, and
should we give our daughter unpasturised milk?

A Milk is unpasturised in Mauritius and should be boiled before use. Powered and tinned milk are available and are safe to use but it is important to make sure that it is reconstituted with pure water. Bottled water is readily available. Avoid dairy products that have been made with unboiled milk, there is a risk of listerial infection which could be fatal.
Raw or unpasturised milk should not be given to children because of the potential risk of contamination with bacteria such as salmonella which causes an acute infection, abdominal pain, nausea, fever, vomiting and dehydration that is life threatening to infants. It is also not recommended for adults.
