My baby cries all the time. I am exhausted and upset?

A I sympathise with you because listening to a baby crying is upsetting. It is natural for babies to cry because it is a normal part of a baby’s development. Nobody knows why some babies cry more than others, what we do know is that crying peaks about eight weeks of age and starts to decrease after that. For some babies this stage of development can be later because all babies are different. If you have had a difficult delivery your baby may have had a traumatic birth experience. In these circumstances cranial massage can sometimes be effective.
Your Health Visitor may be able to advise you about cranial massage in your area.

Try a baby soother tape ‘Sound Sleep for Babies’ by Dr Elizabeth Scott from www.crs-records.com , swaddling your baby in a soft blanket or using a baby sling to carry your baby close to you may help. Give your baby a warm bath or run the vacuum cleaner. Make sure you look after yourself and if possible sleep when your baby sleeps. This will help you to cope better in the evenings. If you feel that you are loosing control put your baby in a safe place and try to deal with your stress by listening to music or having a bath. If possible ask your partner, a friend or relative to look after your baby for a few hours while you have a break . Go out with your baby for a walk or visit a friend. Always see your Doctor if you are concerned about your baby’s crying. Never shake a baby because it can cause serious brain damage.
