My baby boy is 14 weeks old and suffers with with colic, I have been breast feeding until the last couple of weeks and haven't had a full nights sleep since the beginning. I am feeding him SMA White for hungry babies as he wants feeding every 2-4 hours, he still doesn't sleep more than 3-4 hours in one go with the heavier milk. Could you suggest anything, I know he is coming to the end of colic time so I'm hoping he is better once this is over. I try to get him into a routine but when a baby doesn't sleep for long spells its difficult.

A You must be feeling exhausted from all the feeding and lack of sleep. You have not mentioned your baby's weight or the amount of milk you are giving him at each feed so it is difficult for me to assess the situation properly. Sometimes overfeeding can cause discomfort which can be interpreted as being hungry.
Babies with colic frequently do this because sucking relieves the discomfort temporarily. You have already pointed out that colic usually subsides at around four months but I am wondering if you have tried giving Infracol before feeds. Changing to Omneo Comfort might be with a try because it is easier to digest. Your baby is 14 weeks old and introducing solids to babies before four months is not recommended because earlier introduction may cause allergies so I am unable to recommend that you try this course of action. I suggest that you contact your Health Visitor who will then be able to make a full assessment and decide on the best course of action including the pros and cons of introducing solids earlier than recommended to your baby and monitor your baby's progress.
