My baby is now established on a good mixed diet of three meals a day. I am worried about her bowel movements they sometimes have whole pieces of food that she has eaten in them. Is this normal or does she have a digestive problem?

A Babies have an immature digestive system and because of this it is normal for food to not change very much as it passes through the digestive system. Stools often vary from feed to feed and evidence of the most recent meal can be detected in the colour or textured of the bowel movement particularly if it is hard food that has not been chewed properly and is difficult to digest. Provided the bowel movement does not contain mucus (which would give the movement a 'slimy' appearance ) there is no need to worry or make any changes to the diet.
