How do I child proof my home.

A Do be aware that you can never totally child proof your home and it is always best to keep an eye on your child at all times. There are things that you can do to try and prevent accidents happening and theses few hints will help:

  • Put locks on your windows,
  • Cover electrical sockets with child covers when not in use.
  • Place child safety latches on cupboards especially kitchen cupboards
  • Position a safety guard over any fires
  • Tidy away all electrical cords and place well out of reach
  • Use stair gates at the top and bottom of stairs and block rooms you don't want your toddler to get into.
  • Move all cleaning products from floor level to well above child height or put a locks on these cupboard
  • Lock up all medicines and vitamins in a bathroom cabinet where they can't be reached
  • Keep makeup, lotions, hair products and perfumes where baby’s cannot reach them
  • Be careful with such as hairdryers and hair straigteners - that you do not leave them where children can reach them
  • As far as possible, move everything breakable or dangerous to above toddler reach.
  • Buy corner guards for the sharp edges of furniture.
  • Use sticky cellophane sheets to cover any glass you're worried about in tables or in doors.
  • Don’t forget the garden, lock away garden tools, make sure your child is unable to get out through breaks in the fence or hedge, fill in your pond

The safest measure is to always supervise your child and be vigilant
