My daughter is dry during the day but still wet at night..

It's not unusual for children
to need nappies at night time, even when they are dry during the day. This is
because the response to wake when the bladder is full has not developed properly
yet. This will develop in time depending on your Childs readiness both physically
and emotionally. It is very common for children to still be wet up to school age.
In fact Peadiatricians do not consider bedwetting to be an issue until the child
is 7 years of age
- With a younger child
put the nappies back on for nighttime. You can then try without nappies when
you have had consistently dry nappies in the morning.
- It may also help to make
sure that your child is not afraid of getting up for any reason. For example
they are afraid of the dark
- Limit drinks with caffeine
as this is a diuretic
- Constipation can also
cause bladder problems. A study showed that 1 in 3 children with chronic constipation
also had bedwetting problems. If you suspect your child has constipation see
your GP,
- Never punish your child
for being wet at night, be prepared with water proof mattress and duvet covers.
- Sometimes stress can
make your child wet at night such as a move to a new house, new baby, or going
to school.
Always talk to your child
and find out the reasons behind the wetting.
