My son has chickenpox how long do I keep him off nursery for?
.

A Because chickenpox is a highly infectious viral disease it is advisable to keep him off nursery for 10 days at least. It is infectious until the last scab has disappeared and at least seven days from the start of the illness. Crops of spots appear at different times over a four-day period. The lesions start likes spots and then blister before becoming crusty. In healthy children chickenpox requires no medical treatment but do inform your Doctor because it is a notifiable disease. Consult your Doctor if your son has a high fever 39c or the rash has spread to the eyes. Calamine lotion can be used to sooth the skin.
