My baby girl has tiny white spots on her face - what are they and how do I get rid of them?.

A I understand how upsetting this can be especially with a little girl. You feel these tiny blemishes are running her beauty. Please be reassured that these spots are really very common in babies and are called milia and are often called 'milk spots'. Mainly they are found on the nose, under the eyes and on the cheeks. They are thought to arise as a baby's skin is immature and the hair follicles on the face become blocked with sebum. No treatment is needed as when your baby's skin matures the follicles will unblock themselves and her skin will clear. Don't be tempted to try to remove them yourself by picking at the milia, putting on creams and lotions, or rubbing her face excessively. Your baby's skin is very delicate and this will cause bruising and damage to the skin and may make the condition worse. Cleansing her face with cotton wool and water then patting dry will be all that is needed.
