This service provides midwifery advice and information for non-urgent queries to UK residents only related to pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period (one month post birth) for users within the United Kingdom. This is not a substitute for obtaining qualified medical advice to treat a health problem or illness or a substitute for your local midwifery care. ASK-A- Health visitor does not endorse any of the treatments or products discussed herein.

Healthvisitors.com reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time by posting changes online. You are responsible for regularly reviewing information that we post online to get notice of such changes and amendments.

SERVICE

Ask a Health visitor is a professional, personalized email based consultancy service for any person who has a question relating to pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, parenting, early parenting, child health & wellbeing up to 5 years old. To ensure a quality and consistent service, questions and answers are reviewed by two qualified midwives prior to responses being returned. ASK-A- Health visitor is only available to users within the Untied Kingdom.

No promises are made, given or intended by the advice or information given by ASK-A- Health visitor and no information, advice or diagnosis made shall be deemed the only or best possible at that time with respect to the matter in question.

We will respond to every email request in a prompt and thorough manner, and an acknowledgement of your email will be sent to you immediately. While our aim is to respond to your question within 7 working days, there may be occasions when further information needs to be researched and you will be informed of this process, therefore no response time limit will be guaranteed. At times we may not be able to respond to your query as quickly as we would like due to circumstances beyond our control. An example of this may include technical problems such as the internet server down. There may be a delay during National Holiday & Bank Holiday Season’s.

If you are at all worried about the health of yourself or your baby you should seek medical advice immediately from your local Health Visitor, Midwife if appropriate,  GP or Doctor, Accident & Emergency Department or your local Maternity Unit.

At ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife we take confidentiality very seriously. ASK-A- Health visitor/ Ask a Midwife is an email based service and we fully respect your right to confidentiality. We fully comply with confidentiality best practices followed by NHS hospitals, GP’s and Midwives.

ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife is required to comply with data protection requirements in the way in which it uses any personal information collected from you in your use of this service and in relation to any services provided to you by ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife. This requirement is in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and certain other legal requirements which put into effect various pieces of European law.

At ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife, we therefore take very seriously your rights in relation to the way in which we use your personal information and the security of that data which you provide to us is very important.

The personal data which we collect from you will be held and used for the proper administration of our business and in order to provide information services to you or to answer any questions which you may raise. We will retain copies of any communications which you send to us (including copies of any e-mails) in order to maintain accurate records of the information which we have received, such as queries and requests for advice as well as information and stories which you have submitted to us. This information will also be used to give us a better understanding of who is using our site and the types of subject areas which are of interest.

Some of the information which you may submit may include what is known under the relevant legislation as "sensitive personal data". This includes for example information relating to your health, any disability which you may have or your race or ethnic origin. Once you have asked your question, you agree not to use ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife in the following manner:

  • (i) in a manner that is prohibited by any law or regulation, or to facilitate the violation of any law or regulation;
  • (ii) to invade the privacy of third parties;
  • (iii) to impersonate ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife personnel or other parties or entities;
  • (iv) to transmit unlawful, fraudulent, offensive, obscene, pornographic, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or otherwise objectionable material, or
  • (v) to encourage conduct that would give rise to civil or criminal liability; not to violate, or assist in violating, the security of e-med, whether intentionally, negligently or otherwise.

ASK-A- Health visitor /ASK A MIDWIFE PAY AS YOU GO SERVICE

Due to the popularity of our Ask a Midwife service a ‘Pay as you go’ service has been established. Each user will pay a small fee of £5.00 for each ASK-A- Health visitor /Ask a Midwife Credit. One credit entitles each user to ask one question to a Professional Midwife. Users can purchase any number of credits which entitles them to use the service at any time.

Our general terms & conditions apply to the ASK-A- Health visitor/ Ask a Midwife Pay as you go Service

If a user asks more than one question in their email, and the questions are independent of each other, the replying Midwife will decide the priority question and respond to this. The user will be encouraged to re-submit question not answered.

Confirmation emails sent to clients and opportunity to cancel following payment for a period of 7 days.

All users’ payments will be made via the secure online system PayPal.

Requests for refund will need to be stated in writing and will be considered. (See procedure for 'Complaints')
