Milk intolerance

My son has recently been diagnosed with reflux and cows milk and soya protein intolerance. I have been advised by his GP to wean him to see if the solid foods help with his reflux. I have to avoid giving him dairy and soya and was wondering what I can use as a substitute, he has pepti junior milk which I know I can use in cooking but I wasn't sure what I would give him to replace ordinary cheese and yogurts and other dairy products and also bread as I have been told it contains soya.

If your child has a true intolerance to milk and soya proteins, then it is very important that you are provided with specialist advice. Please return to your GP and ask to be referred to a Paediatric Dietician. The dietician will be aware of the exact nature of the intolerance which puts him or her in a better position to advise you on managing reflux and a suitable weaning diet.

Many of the milk free products are available on prescription when a diagnosis has been confirmed which means you can obtain them free of charge.
