Clinical
audits have now become a common feature in the health
service, and is an important component of any clinical
governance framework. All practitioners who provide
a service to clients should be examining whether their
objectives or standards are being met and whether the
desired outcomes are being achieved for our clients.
It is now
increasingly important that all Health Visitors become
familiar with the methodologies required for determining
the quality of their practice and are experienced in
carrying out clinical audits. However, for health visitors
this can be a very complicated and time consuming process
and even though each PCT should have Quality Departments
which provide practitioners support and guidance, finding
time for quality activities is very difficult.
Click
here for an evaluation form which can be easily
downloaded to facilitate Health Visitors in evaluating
their postnatal groups. It can also be used to evaluate
most group sessions, by slightly changing the questions
so that it relates to the service you are providing.
The completed forms can then be used to produce a quality
report with the help form the PCT’s quality department
and can be an excellent tool to facilitate and monitor
change.
